TheatreLab

theatreLab is an initiative which gives a space to writers, directors and actors to get together in a rehearsal room setting and work on new ideas and develop scripts that can go forward to be put into a platform for new work and/or straight to a full production.

theatreLab will be producing a curated platform event of new writing that will be entering a festival of new writing in the coming months. It's a great social and network opportunity, you have the space to mix with creative students from other courses and also outside industry artists and professionals.

Here’s how it works

Writers submit their ideas and script. This is then partnered with a director along with a group of actors, and work begins on the script in a rehearsal room setting. We share the work, and give responses to the work as a group. Writers keep developing the script and we test it out, with a view to eventually achieve a fully developed script.

Writers get a chance to try out their scripts and meet other theatre makers who may make their work happen

Directors get to develop new scripts as well as meet new writers and potential projects to be involved in.

Actors get to develop their skills, contacts as well as be involved with new projects with potential casting opportunities.

theatreLab is on every month on a Saturday from 11.00am-2.30pm at Burdalls Yard. The next one is 10th May 2014. Tea, Coffee and biscuits are available for free and a warm welcome will await you.
